Cupprimo was founded in 2008 by Amy Brown. Amy, a self described “Entrepreneur not baker,” wanted to create a place with downtown charm in Northwest Austin. She grew up watching her mom, Judy, bake multiple desserts from scratch for every family function. Judy’s top secret recipe was her beloved Strawberry cake. It was served at every single family reunion and it’s available in the cupcake form in the case each and every day!
Christina, from the blog Christina Does It All, described it best in her post about Cupprimo:
Cupprimo is a true family run business. Amy has 5 children and her oldest kids can be found working behind the counter serving drinks and cupcakes to loyal Cupprimo patrons! In a city saturated with coffee shops, Cupprimo has managed to stay on top due to its convenient location, delicious cupcakes, and top notch employees.
Amy has a head for business and a heart for people. Upon entering Cupprimo, prepare for a friendly greeting and get ready to laugh at the irreverent jokes frequently made. Cupprimo has a fun and sassy atmosphere that instantly puts a smile on each customer’s face. Amy isn’t afraid to laugh at herself and makes her customers feel like they’ve known her for years. Her ability to get people to open up is one of the countless reasons behind her success.
That success allowed Cupprimo to land a spot on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars! While the judges raved about Cupprimo’s Signature ChocOStache cupcake, winning just wasn’t meant to be. But Amy didn’t let that dampen her spirits! She has turned Cupprimo into an Austin institution with a loyal following. It’s not hard to see why everyone wants to stop in! With cupcake flavors like Boozy Pineapple, Tres Leches and S’more; these ain’t your mama’s cupcakes.
